Attempting to lead the Los Angeles Lakers to their first NBA title in Los Angeles, Lakers Center Wilt Chamberlain was a dominant presence against the New York Knicks.
Hoping to win the title back at home the Lakers were leading the series 3 games to 1, unfortunately Chamberlain was dealing with a sprained wrist and it wasn’t until receiving pain-killer injections that Chamberlain could go in Game 5.
Wearing braces on both wrists Chamberlain dominated the depleted Knicks going for 24 points, 29 rebounds, and eight assists and an unofficial eight blocks.
Through Chamberlain’s efforts the Lakers clinched their first championship since moving to Los Angeles as he was name Most Valuable Player for the Finals.
