In the last few days, word has been spreading about trade talks involving the Los Angeles Angels and a number of other clubs.

In dire need of a left handed bat in their lineup, the Halos have been very active on the trade market.

And despite the recent resignation of former General Manager Jerry Dipoto, interim GM Bill Stoneman is merely taking the baton and getting up to speed.

By this time last season, the Angels had already acquired relievers Jason Grilli, Rich Hill, and Joe Thatcher to bolster their bullpen.

It would be just ten days later that they would land Huston Street, and another arm that is now the other key piece in that deal, Trevor Gott.

Bullpen was the team’s greatest need in those days.

Now, much to the surprise of many going into this season, their biggest hole is an impact left handed bat.

Whether that player is a leadoff hitter or a middle of the order hitter, once thing is for certain on the Halos’ front.

They need offense.

Even though the team has been on a run scoring rampage on their current road trip, one has to wonder what the long term chances are that will continue.

Albert Pujols and Mike Trout are doing their duty at the center. Kole Calhoun and Erick Aybar have picked it up. Even Chris Iannetta has been his old self over the last month.

Johnny Giavotella has all but replaced former his predecessor at second base, Howie Kendrick. And the club even has a new young starting pitcher with much promise in the form of Andrew Heaney.

So there are lots of positives developing in Angeltown — but still, will this continue?

I think so.

But not at the tune of ten runs per game.

The career averages of the players in the Angels lineup are at least above average or better collectively, which should be a clear indication they will have a much better second half at the plate.

No matter the case, it never hurts to be sure.

And that’s what their front office has been diligent about in the past month or so.

So let’s take a look at what’s been happening with the following players involved in trade talks:
