This is a young lefty bat that has taken a while to find it’s groove. Josh Reddick has been up and down in his young career, but appears to be hitting his stride in 2015.

His batting average has mostly been around .240-.265. But when he’s on, he’s more like a .280-type hitter.

His on-base percentage is modest; he’s not going to draw a ton of walks. But he has power. Enough to fit in the middle of the Angels lineup behind Albert.

And despite the ups and downs, just a .250 performance with pop is a major upgrade over the disappointment that has been Matt Joyce in left field.

The Angels and A’s discussed Reddick earlier in the season. Oakland didn’t get serious about dealing him to the Halos. The reasons are unknown, outside of trading within their own division. The question really is about who Billy Beane would ask for. I would imagine he’s asking for something significant.

The Angels have more depth in the minor leagues than they’ve had in a few years. They have as much pitching depth as they’ve had in about eight years.

Perhaps the Halos could pull this one off by offering key future relievers?

The A’s have one their worst bullpens in their history this season, so that might not be out of reach.

Still, Beane might want more.

But if the Angels can come to a reasonable agreement, I say give this one a shot.
