Robert Horry won seven championships during his career, three with the Los Angeles Lakers, proving that he was an ultimate winner.
Horry may not have been a superstar for the Houston Rockets, the Lakers or the San Antonio Spurs, but he knew his role and performed it well. Furthermore, there is no power forward in the history of the Lakers franchise, or even the league as a whole, who had the clutch gene like Horry did.
Although he only averaged six points and five rebounds per game with the Lakers, his main purpose was to hit the boards and stretch the floor and hitting timely shots. In three of his seven seasons with the Lakers, he shot at least 35-percent from three-point range, and over 30-percent in five of his seven seasons.
However, his true value was what he brought when it mattered most.
Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal were the go-to players for the Lakers, but Horry was the player that teams feared down the stretch.
With plenty of game winners and fourth-quarter go-ahead baskets under his belt, Horry proved his worth with the Lakers.
