Vern Mikkelsen‘s name is largely forgotten these days among NBA fans, but when the team was in Minneapolis, Mikkelsen helped the Lakers to championship success. He was a member of the Minneapolis Lakers for 10 seasons, winning four titles during that stretch.

Mikkelsen was actually an emotional big guy who still holds the league record for most ejections with 127. His intensity and passion for the game carried into the way he played defense, as well. He also was an effective compliment to Mikan down low for five seasons.

During his time as a Laker, Mikkelsen averaged 14.4 points and 9.4 rebounds. He was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1995.
