2015 NBA Draft

The Lakers summer report card begins with the NBA Draft. The obvious choice by many appeared to be Jahlil Okafor.  However, the Lakers drafted the versatile, confident, and physical D’Angelo Russell.

Russell possesses all the tools of the new-age point guard.  He can score, distribute, and does not back down from competition. At 6’5, nearly 200 pounds, Russell definitely has the body, along with the skills to be a prominent point guard in the NBA.

The Lakers added, Larry Nance, Jr., and Anthony Brown — Nance is a hustling, highly energetic stretch forward.

Although Nance seemed to come off the board a little early, he still has versatility, and athleticism to add a quality dynamic off the bench for Los Angeles.

Anthony Brown, a small forward, is one of the better, arguably best, pure shooters out of the draft class.

Brown adds a pop off the bench that the Lakers can utilize from 3, something they lacked often in terms of consistency in 2014-15.

Perhaps if Robert Upshaw can make the Lakers roster the Lakers will have even more of a deep, upstart youth core…at every position.
