So if those other teams weren’t terrifying enough, the Dodgers still have to live with the fact that the lesser of all those evils would be the team that has eliminated them in three of their last half-dozen trips to the October Zone.
The only team that really fairly matches up to the Cards in any way might — and that’s a strong might — be the revamped Toronto Blue Jays.
Exploding offense, dominant defense, and insurance pitching keep the Cardinals a threat at the end of every baseball season.
If the Dodgers were to go up against them it would be for a shot at the World Series — same case as if they played the Cubs or the Pirates — so obviously, the Dodgers’ fan base would want to probably beat them more than anybody.
So trust me when I say there’d be nothing sweeter.
Aside from the fact that the Cardinals are literally leaps and bounds ahead of everyone else in the standings, they are by no means super human.
They have their own imperfections, they’re just better at masking them.
Against St. Louis, it would have to be patience that would act as the biggest determining factor on who makes a World Series appearance — it’s just a matter of whether or not the Dodgers have learned to live with their short falls.
Because in those short comings, there might be more answers than questions.
