When looking at the traditionally exciting match-ups on Christmas Day, it’s hard to believe that the holiday showcase game would be at the bottom of the list.
But here we are.

After sweeping the Lakers in decisive fashion last season, this showdown is more about the national attention on the battle for Los Angeles match-up. While the Lakers have lost their dominance in the series as of late, there are years of history that the Clippers attempt to erase every time they face the purple and gold.
For the Lakers, they have not received a Christmas gift in recent years as much as a lump of coal as they have lost star player Kobe Bryant for games against the Miami Heat and Chicago Bulls on the holiday.
Now, I don’t believe that the forces of luck and the basketball Gods dislike Laker Nation enough to take away their star player for a third time so I anticipate both teams to be at full strength come December 25.
All things aside, it will be interesting to see how far the Lakers young talent has developed and the Clippers will be a stern test for them. With all parties in the holiday spirit, it will likely be a fun game with plenty of exciting energy in the Staples Center.
