He’s one of the forgotten greats since the Kings were unsuccessful during his time in LA, which is almost 30 years ago to this day.

The New York Islanders four-cup dynasty, of which Goring was a part of, in the early 1980’s, had hockey fans forget about that he spent time in LA.

While with the LA Kings, the former forward had 275 goals and 659 assists in 736 games.

His success earned him the nickname “seed”, because of his reputation to be a utilitarian.

While playing for the Kings, Goring won a Bill Masterson and Lady Byng trophies.

He would also win a Stanley Cup with the Islanders as well as get the Conn Smythe trophy. He was a player that would come up clutch in big games or close games.

In his career with the Kings, Goring placed fifth all-time in goals and sixth all-time in points scored, assists, and games played.

Goring also spent some time behind the bench as a coach for the Islanders and the Boston Bruins finishing with a 83-126-31 record.

He would only reach the playoffs only once during his first year of coaching with the Bruins, however they would get swept in three games.
