Nicholls, like Goring, was also known for playing his best in big games and during the postseason.

During his career in LA, Nicholls would put up a total of 328 goals and 758 points in 602 games played.

In the 1988-89 season, Nicholls would have a breakthrough year by scoring 70 goals and tallying 150 points and would finish second and fourth in those categories, respectively.

During that season as well he would become only the 13th player in NHL history to score eight points in one game.

While with the Kings, Nicholls would make three trips to the All-Star game respectively in 1984, 1989, and 1990.

Besides the Kings, Nicholls would also play for the New York Rangers, Edmonton Oilers, New Jersey Devils, Chicago Blackhawks, and San Jose Sharks, he would earn the nickname “Hollywood”, while playing for the Kings.

Nicholls became known for his flamboyant “Pumper Nicholl” windmill celebration after he scored a goal.

When Nicholls left the Kings, he was ranked fifth all-time in scoring for the Kings.

In the 1985 World Ice Championship, Nicholls represented team Canada and won a sliver medal.

In the 2012 season, Nicholls was hired on as a coaching consultant to help boost a then struggling offense.
