A late surge by the Houston Texans was not enough to catch Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts.
The Colts won the AFC South with an 11-5 record.
The Indianapolis Colts have arguably the best quarterback in the NFL. With the addition of veterans Andre Johnson and Frank Gore, the Colts are for real.
These two add another element that they lacked last year.
I see the Colts doing great things this year, and the only thing standing in their way is themselves.
The Texans, the host of this year’s HBO’s Hard Knocks, will look to dethrone the Colts. They have the best defense in the South with Watt, Clowney, and Cushing. Brian Hoyer and DeAndre Hopkins, long with Arian Foster, will have to do their part by controlling the game. The Texans could be a surprise team this year.
The Tennessee Titans are young.
They had the second overall pick in the NFL Draft, and they drafted former Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota. His favorite target thus far during the preseason is Kendall Wright.
Dealing Delanie Walker will have to be his security blanket, being a huge target for the young QB.
Their running game is questionable with the loss of rookie David Cobb to the IR this week, the second year back Bishop Sankey, and the recent addition of Terrance West.
The Titans will need to protect Mariota and get him game experience in order to have a successful year.
The Jaguars have definitely improved from last year. Hard to improve when you go 3-13, but they had some nice acquisitions, Julius Thomas and rookie T.J. Yeldon.
Thomas will be out for two months, but after that hopefully he will be a force as he was in Denver.
I know he won’t have Manning throwing his touchdowns, but I like Bortles.
I think he will take the next step by controlling the game an will need to cut back on the turnovers.
This division is a two team race, Colts and Texans, but the Colts should win handily.
