Point Taken

In D’Angelo Russell, the Lakers have found their point guard of the future.

Russell only missed one game after an injury scare he sustained against the Utah Jazz in Hawaii.

Russell’s best game came against Maccabi Haifa.

He tallied five points, three rebounds, and 11 assists.

Russell put on a passing display that reminded us of the days when Magic Johnson was donning the purple and gold.

However, the issue at the lead guard position is where will the Lakers get their productivity when Russell takes a breather?

Lou Williams has shown he can run the point but he truly is a scorer at heart.

Jordan Clarkson can also play the point but if he starts at shooting guard, the remaining option is Marcelo Huertas, who has yet to play an NBA game.

He has been nursing a strained hamstring since day one of preseason and if he doesn’t make the roster, the Lakers will have quite a pickle on their hands.

Perhaps Russell coming off the bench could be the solution?

Only time will tell.
