UFC 193: What To Do In Aftermath

Ronda Rousey was the heavy favorite against Holly Holm, but as we've seen before in professional fighting, anything can happen -- literally, anything.rnrnMuch to the tune of how people felt after the most recent Super Bowl ending, the focus can't stay on Rousey's fall from grace forever. Mandatory Credit: Matt Roberts-USA TODAY Sports[/caption]rnrnTo get right to the point, a rematch between the two is the UFC's top priority.rnrnNow that Rousey has broken her silence, all signs point to UFC 200 as the date for the rematch.rnrnRousey announced that she is following through with her plans to take time off following UFC 193.rnrnThat means the timetable would be right to make the fight next summer where it would be the centerpiece of the biggest event in UFC history.rnrn[fsdaily]rnrnEven if Holm would prefer to stay active, the promotion would likely force her to wait to prevent any injuries that would take her off the card and out of a rematch.rnrnThere are a multitude of scenarios for the UFC to fill up the nearly eight months between now and then.rnrnOne would be to pair the two in coaching a season of The Ultimate Fighter .rnrnThat scenario would put the two on the sideline until after the show airs and the timing would be right for a July showdown.rnrnIt should also be noted that Rousey may well have to take time to address the issues facing her coach Edmond Tarverdyan, who is claiming bankruptcy, and that he has "no income" despite coaching the former champion.rnrn[nextpost teaser="Holly Holm's Next Step" slider="true"] rnrn[h size="34px"]Holm vs. Tate[/h]rnrn[caption id="attachment_63580" align="aligncenter" width="590"] Jul 25, 2015; Chicago, IL, USA; Jessica Eye (blue gloves) fights against Miesha Tate (red gloves) during UFC Fight Night at United Center. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports[/caption]rnrnJoanna Jedrzejczyk did not get the walk in the park she was hoping for against Valerie Letourneau and was forced to increase her level to get the victory on Saturday night.rnrnWhile the Canadian defied all expectations, she was not the top contender in the standings.rnrnThe fighter at the front of the line is Claudia Gadelha who prior to Letourneau had given the champion her toughest fight to date.rnrnA hand injury kept Gadelha from fighting on Saturday but she has proven to be the most ready challenger in the division.rnrnWhile JJ vs Gadelha 2 is in the immediate future, the hottest name in the division will be fighting in December as sixth ranked Paige VanZant headlines her first event against former title challenger Rose Namajunas.rnrnIf "12 Gauge" is successful in her December bout then she will undoubtedly be pencilled in against Jedrzejcyzk if Gadelha can not fight.rnrn[nextpost teaser="Other Fun" slider="true"] rnrn[h size="34px"]Mark Hunt vs. Josh Barnett[/h]rnrn[caption id="attachment_63582" align="aligncenter" width="590"] Nov 15, 2015; Melbourne, Australia; Antonio "Bigfoot[/caption]rnrnAfter being in several battles against some of the best that the heavyweight division has to offer, some wondered if Hunt was going to be as durable in a second battle with Bigfoot Silva.rnrnOn Saturday, he showed he's far from done and scored a great first round victory.rnrnHunt has fought nearly every top heavyweight not named Cain Velasquez and was interested in rematches with Fabricio Werdum and Junior dos Santos.rnrnWhile all those names have fights lined up, a battle with Josh Barnett could be an exciting fight for "The Super Samoan."rnrnBarnett defeated Roy Nelson earlier this year and on paper the two would put on a barn burner of a match.rnrnWhile neither are in the immediate title picture, a victory would position the winner for a chance at a top-five opponent.
