A new Los Angeles Football Club has been announced in the world of fútbol.

As you can see, Los Angeles has a new soccer team — the latest addition to Major League Soccer.

The Los Angeles Football Club debuted their logo and crest on Thursday and instilled hope for the team.

Everyone was confused, as was I, when Will Ferrell became part owner of the team with Brandon Beck.

In recent news, former Dodger Nomar Garciaparra invested in the club because of his passion of soccer along with baseball.

It’ll be interesting to see what kind of experience and direction he can bring to the new team as it starts fresh.

Mia Hamm-Garciaparra does not need any introduction in the world of soccer. Nomar and Mia have three children, twin girls and a boy. The club is possibly adding a women’s team.

Garciaparra’s input of where the stadium should be placed came close to his heart.

Exposition Park is the “heart of Los Angeles” and Nomar agrees.

“I grew up playing soccer here. I know for the Hispanic population here, what it means, how they love football. It’s more than a game–it’s a way of life. Now they have a team in the heart of the city.”

Since the only other soccer club is the L.A. Galaxy, it gives the Los Angeles Football Club a slight edge.

“L.A. is very diverse, there’s so many nationalities involved. Our ownership is very diverse as well – we’ve got Will Ferrell,” said Garciaparra.

Since the population of Los Angeles is majority Latino, the fans would be able to relate to a Latino coach for the team. “It’s important to have diverse management,” said Garciaparra. “What great about this ownership group is that we talk about everything, and I’ll definitely have input.”

The only Latino head coach in Major League Soccer is Oscar Pareja of FC Dallas.

However, L.A. Galaxy is not going to be the only team that LAFC has to look out for. With the Chargers, Raiders, and Ram applying to move to Los Angeles, Garciaparra did not limit his ideas for the team.

“There are a lot of passionate sports fans here. The city can embrace all of it,” said Garciaparra.

That we are Nomar, that we are!
