Super Bowl 50: EA Sports Prediction
By Keith Rivas
The Madden 16 simulation by EA Sports for Super Bowl 50 has the game coming down to the wire.
According to the results of the simulation, as Forbes reports, Cam Newton will win the MVP award and the Panthers will walk away with the Lombardi Trophy after coming out to a 17-0 lead and nearly letting it slip away.
Ted Ginn Jr. got things taken care of on special teams from the beginning, and as expected, Carolina came out swinging against the league’s top defense this season.
After getting down 17-0 at halftime, the third quarter belonged to Peyton Manning.
Once he connected with Emmanuel Sanders, things began clicking for the Broncos and they ended the quarter on a 13-0 run, cutting the lead to just four points.
The simulation had the Broncos going ahead 20-17 after a touchdown thrown to Demaryius Thomas by Manning, but Cam Newton & Co. got the last laugh.
It seems eerily similar to the situation the Seattle Seahawks found themselves in last year against the New England Patriots a year ago today.
They still should’ve run it, by the way, in case that was still on your mind.
Instead of losing the game on a costly interception, Cam Newton composed himself well and tumbled into the end zone right before it was too late.

Statistically speaking, Peyton Manning had the better game compared to Newton, but didn’t win the game MVP because his team was on the losing side.
In a losing effort, Manning completed 21 of 37 passes for 241 yards, two touchdowns, and just one interception.
For Newton, he completed 19 of 26 throws, compiling for 216 yards, one throwing touchdown, and also one interception.
On Carolina’s side, Greg Olsen and Jonathan Stewart each had one touchdown a piece and Josh Norman pitched in six tackles and the lone pick for the Panthers’ defense.
Aqib Talib proved to be the best competitor on the Broncos’ defense, recording five tackles and an interception all his own.
These simulations have been right 75% of the time out of the 12 simulations on record.
Despite being seemingly superstitious about wearing orange jerseys and losing while wearing them, the all-whites didn’t do much for the Broncos when it was all said and done.
Bottom Line: Cam Newton will capitalize.
With Kelvin Benjamin hopefully back for the full season next year, it’s hard to imagine at the moment, but the reality is that Cam Newton will only get better.
As opposed to Russell Wilson, who has had his moments but has largely depending on an excellent defense not his own play, Newton brings his own sense and style to the NFL unlike any quarterback before him.
