LA Clippers No Longer Dependent On Big Nights From Blake Griffin
The LA Clippers are doing just fine without Blake Griffin.
The Los Angeles Clippers have been without one of their stars Blake Griffin for about a month now, and surprisingly they have exceeded analyst expectations of this team from the onset of Griffin’s injury and subsequent suspension.
All the critics thought the Clippers would need Blake in order to be a legitimate NBA title contender.
Minus Blake, the Clippers have found success in the concept of team basketball. In their last six games they have scored 95 plus points.
In each of those games multiple players have been in double figures in points scored. At least three players every game. Most importantly, in those last 3 games everyone who was dressed, contributed in some aspect of the game.
Even if they didn’t show up on the stat sheet, there is no doubt that everyone on the roster is contributing in hustle plays, a key difference maker in championship contenders.
So, are the Clippers truly better off without Griffin?

Since Griffin has been out the team holds a collective record of 17-4.
Can they continue to win playing a more team style of basketball? Is Blake Griffin’s trade value higher than his actual value to the team?
There have been rumors of Blake being moved to the Oklahoma City Thunder, Denver Nuggets, or even the Los Angeles Lakers; Oklahoma being his home town.
All of the media think its a good fit for him. Many critics have said it would not be, because there would be more media attention on him than in Los Angles. That is bonkers.
The Nuggets would be a good fit for him to get back on track and help be a young veteran leader on that team who has had playoff experience.
Basically, him and Kenneth Faried could trade teams; they both are high flyers and full of energy.
The last report is for Griffin to join the Lakers. In this case he wouldn’t really be going too far from his home right now. He would stay in the same city and just suit up for a different team.
With Kobe retiring this season, their cap space will open up and they will be able to pick Blake up. Perhaps with Griffin on the Lakers, that could spurn other superstars to convert to the purple and gold.
For example, Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant could both come to L.A. if they don’t go their own ways.
This would only happen if Blake doesn’t go to Oklahoma. According to Stephen A. Smith, Friday morning on espn radio he said that “Westbrook and Durant are open to playing in L.A. as long as the team doesn’t play like this year and is good.” This can only happen if they don’t go different directions. Add Griffin to the mix and boom there is a team.
