Game Plan Against San Antonio

If the Los Angeles Clippers can find a way to contain Kawhi Leonard, stopping the rest of the team should be a breeze.

One of the biggest issues when facing a team like San Antonio, however, is that their reserves — not their starters — are their surprise weapon.

Attacking consistently on the floor and being relentless on defense has become a staple of the way the Spurs play the game.

Head coach Gregg Popovich is best at letting his guys make the in-game decisions that sometimes decide the outcome of contest — and so far, it’s worked to perfection.

If it weren’t for the historically good Golden State Warriors this season, San Antonio would be all of the talk related to the NBA.

But they don’t mind playing the background, either.

    • In fact, now that they know what it’s like in that position, it’s probably where they prefer to be above anywhere else.

    Looking also at the fact that the Spurs don’t lose at home, boasting a 24-0 record for games played in San Antonio, the Clippers’ best chance to get a statement win is going to be on their home floor.

    For this match up specifically, the Clippers will need their biggest contributor to be DeAndre Jordan.

    Obviously, if they had Blake Griffin at their disposal, it would make their game down low and on the corners just that more explosive, but enough with the what-if scenarios for now.

    Because the Spurs were able to go out and get former Portland star LaMarcus Aldridge, the biggest key overall for the Clippers is going to be out-rebounding the Spurs in order to get the win.

    They also have to prepare themselves for the worst stretch of things physically, because generally speaking, fatigue doesn’t seem to be in San Antonio’s dictionary.
