Taking an international approach to their coaching vacancy, San Antonio assistant Ettore Messina could be a good fit for the franchise if they decide to give him what he wants.

With four European titles under his belt, Messina brings championship swagger into the conversation almost immediately.

Messina is currently focused with the task of helping the San Antonio Spurs prepare for the second round, as they’ll face off against the Oklahoma City Thunder for a shot at the Western Conference Finals, but is not an unfamiliar face.

He was part of the team of assistants under the tenure of Mike Brown a few seasons ago, and also, according to this report by Lakers Nation, would be on the Los Angeles “short list” of replacement candidates.

Since the Lakers have promised a shorter vacancy period than some might expect, we will know who they decide to go with sooner rather than later.
