2017 is year of the Pac 12 quarterbacks in the NFL
2017 should be a great year for former Pac 12 quarterbacks in the NFL.
These players will either be drafted, signed as a undrafted free agent, or signed to a practice squad.
It is another year of the quarterbacks for them.
Multiple standout quarterbacks left their prestigious universities to pursue their NFL dream by declaring for the 2016 NFL Draft and some of them will be playing in the 2017 NFL Season.
One quarterback in Cal Berkleys Jared Goff was drafted number 1 overall by the Los Angeles Rams.
The players who were originally projected to be picked first overall in the 2016 NFL draft were up defensive players because they already have their franchise quarterback.
Then when the Tennessee Titans traded down to number 15 and gave the Los Angeles Rams the number 1 pick, the probability of a quarterback being drafted first went from about 0% to a near 100%.
The top 2 quarterbacks that went 1 and 2 overall are Jared Goff and Carson Wentz.
After the surprise trade of the first pick these quarterbacks draft stock raised and their stock raised when they performed well at the combine.
There are many quarterbacks in the draft who are good and were great at the previous programs.
Many critics have been saying this might be one of the worst quarterback classes in awhile.
I could not disagree more with those critics.
For them to keep performing well in the league they need to get drafted by the right team and sit out for at last a year to develop.
Every quarterback in the draft has raw talent and there is doubt about that.
There will be some that will start right away because the team is considering them their franchise quarterback and because they need a quarterback now and will develop them throughout the season in their rookie year.
With that said the Pac 12 is well represented with half of the quarterbacks from that conference in the draft, which means there are six quarterbacks from the PAC 12 in the 2016 NFL Draft.
They all did great for their respective programs in college, but can they and will they transform their play from college to the professional level?
