2017 is year of the Pac 12 quarterbacks in the NFL
Kessler helped lead USC to another winning season.
They made PAC 12 Championship and played Stanford.
Both UCLA and USC defeated the top place Utah Utes.
The winner of the USC/UCLA game would play the the top team in the PAC 12 North division which was Stanford.
USC defeated UCLA and then played Stanford.
It was a good game that was within reach until the Trojans scored in the fourth quarter to extend their lead to a two possession game and securing their victory and trip to the conference championship game.
This was a rematch of earlier in the year where Stanford pulled away late in the 4th quarter and this game was eerily similar. ]
It was as if the Trojans had no chance at all to win yet, they had raw talent on both sides of the ball.
Kessler has the ability to stand in the pocket under duress and still complete his throws to his receivers.
Just as the other quarterbacks he is mobile yet, he is more of a pocket passer and when he runs usually he doesn’t look to throw it because he is running for the first down or touchdown.
His accuracy while in the pocket is his best trait.
Many critics say he can’t throw the deep ball and that is a concern.
Some have even given him the nickname check down king.
I think he will get drafted but in the later rounds because of the switch of head coach during the season.
They still made the conference championship game and he led USC to at least 2 winning seasons as a starter.
He is ready for the NFL and it is best for him to ride the bench and develop into a great professional quarterback.
He can practice the long ball over time.
He has pure talent and to win now in the NFL along with a Super Bowl; all you need is a defense, running back with an offensive lineman and a quarterback who can manage the games as proven by the Denver Broncos.
With the right coach, time and in the right system he will be successful.
It all just depends who is willing to draft him and teach him, because there are multiple future great quarterbacks in the draft.
He just needs time and many great quarterbacks come out of the PAC 12.
Carson Palmer is one of them.
Even after retiring he came back, worked out, and found a team in the Arizona Cardinals and has been doing good since his time back.
For someone who cannot throw the deep ball and is a master of the check downs or a game manager he reminds me of another guy who critics criticized with the same problems also from the PAC 12 in Alex Smith of the Kansas City Chiefs from Utah who makes the playoffs every year.
Will Kessler along with Griffin and the new look Browns lead them to the playoffs this year and multiple appearances in the future?
(Updated Friday April 29, 2016)
First thought for everyone this is horrible for him but it is actually great for him because the Browns are making changes and being smart in the offseason and in the draft.
They are drafting and acquiring players who have the attitude of wanting to make this program great, turn it around, and be a championship team.
Everyone is better together.
Cody Kessler was drafted as the #93 pick in the draft to the Cleveland Browns.
This is a good fit for him because they have a new coach in Hue Jackson who came over from the Bengals.
The Browns have their starting quarterback in Robert Griffin the third.
He can develop under Jackson and Griffin.
This may come as a surprise to most of you but the Browns seem to be going in the right direction right now with all the changes they are making.
It will be fun to watch them this year.
