2016 NFL Draft: Grading the selections of Los Angeles
By Dylan Thomas
Jared Goff
Jared Goff was an outstanding player for the California Bears.
If he can translate that to the NFL, then the Rams will have an A+ grade regardless of how every other pick turns out.
Jared Goff is the first California Bear quarterback taken since Aaron Rodgers. and Goff can make all the throws.
He’s impressively accurate throwing the deep ball, has above-average mobility, knows how to escape the pocket and still accurately make throws on the run — skills that are great when using play-action.
There is a lot to love about Goff, which explains why he was the first overall pick, but there are some concerns.
One being the fact he didn’t play under center on offense in California; so he will need to learn to play under center with the proper footwork.
And even though wins aren’t a quarterback stat, you have to look at his record at Cal.
He went 14-23 (the worst record of any quarterback taken with the first overall pick), but I don’t believe that will affect Goff career in the NFL.
He will be a day one starter and hopefully franchise quarterback.
