The best option for the Lakers out of the plethora of players looked at in this piece remains DeMar DeRozan.

While Paul George and LeBron James carry their own brand of basketball wherever they go, DeRozan is the most realistic option and answer for a team that needs an answer soon.

A young core that is still developing needs a player like DeRozan to establish themselves as a dominant squad.

George, James, Westbrook, and Durant all bring too much to the table, whereas DeRozan brings just enough.

Plus, the idea of a player coming home couldn’t be a more inspiring idea for DeRozan, especially if Toronto’s playoff bid goes south.

If the Lakers chase anyone else, the chance of them running into a free agency rain check raise dramatically.

And that’s no way to get the team back on its feet.
