Candace Parker and the Los Angeles Sparks opened up the season in dominant fashion.

She missed the first half of the 2015 season to rest her body and came back after the all-star break.

In the 2016 season she seems ready to go, as she did not sit out the first game so far and left everything she had on the court.

Her and the Sparks have one goal on their mind which is to win the WNBA championship.

They made the playoffs last year with a losing record but missed the championship game.

This year is a whole different story.

Parker and the ladies sparked up a storm in a thirty point victory, with a big thanks to Candace who lead all scorers with 34 points.

The 2016 WNBA draft was completed literally right after the NCAA March Madness tournament as the draft was on April 14, 2016.

In the draft the Sparks only had 2 picks and the organization made two excellent wise decisions in acquiring three-point specialist Briana Butler from Syracuse and dominant forward Talia Walton from Washington who is a good compliment because she is an inside player.

In case you were wondering yes the WNBA draft differs completely from the NBA draft for multiple reasons.

One reason is there are a total of 12 teams, 6 in each conference, and each play a total of 34 games.

This is a short season compared to the NBA 82-game season.

It is as if almost every WNBA team makes the playoffs.

The four teams in each conference with the best record make the post-season and the other four teams or bottom two teams in each conference are are sent home.

It is unfortunate that it is a short season but it is because they are only a total of 12 organizations/12 teams compared to the NBAs 30 total teams.

The NBA has 15 teams in each conference and they have divisions because there are multiple teams and it makes the league exciting this way.

For the WNBA with the 34 game season if you are going to make the playoffs in your conference and be a high seed, you basically have to win all of your games because there is no margin for error.

The Sparks have a long season ahead of them and it is up to them on how far they will go.

They drafted the right players and those ladies can ball and will make an impact right away for the Sparks and are the players they needed to win it all now and in the future.

It is ironic on who the Sparks drafted and what game they had last night as well in light off everything that has happened in the past few months and year in LA.

I am saying they will make the playoffs and contend for the championship.

They could not have timed it more perfectly with everything LA and all that happened.

The LA Rams are back, the LA Lakers are making and waiting to make good off-season moves, the LA Dodgers have been on a roll, and The LA Angels are going after pitcher Tim Lincecum to make a move for the long haul.

The Anaheim Ducks and LA Kings two of the top four teams in the Western Conference in the NHL but had an unfortunate exit out of the playoffs.

This teams present and future and is bright.

Let the Sparks fly.
