Former LA Kings and now San Jose Sharks Goalie Martin Jones, hopes to lead the Sharks to win their first ever Stanley Cup in the 2016 Stanley Cup Finals.

Jones has been here before when he won the Stanley Cup with the Los Angeles Kings, but as a backup goalie to Jonathan Quick.

He is the only one on the Sharks who has experience of being in the Stanley Cup and winning whether he was a starter or backup.

Also he helped the Sharks to reach their first ever Stanley Cup Finals and now the next goal is to win the Finals.

The Sharks  currently find themselves in a 0-2 hole against their opponent the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The team must find a way to win by changing their gameplan, it is like playing chess you always have to know your next moves.

Pittsburgh has been coming out the gates swinging, immediately looking like they are going to blow the Sharks out of the water.

Then next thing you know don’t blink, because the Sharks bite their way back into the game, only to lose the last two games by last second game winning shots by the Penguins, one in regulation and the other in overtime.

Jones has struggled in the beginning of the games along with his team, then after the 1st intermission the Sharks find a way to get themselves back into the game.

The Sharks feed off of Jones energy and performance, he is one of their leaders on defense.

This team is known for its defense and the Penguins for their offense it is a perfect Stanley Cup Finals matchup.

The Sharks need to be able to play smart and score on offense.

They need their captain and leading goal scorer in the playoffs Joe Pavelski to step up and score multiple goals on offense and if he can’t then assist in goals to his teammates.

The only problem is that the Penguins skate fast and it is hard for the Sharks to keep up with them, hence the reason they keep trailing from behind.

This is why the Sharks need to slow the tempo of the game down and have their defense lead to offense as Defense Wins Championships, and the Offense just gets you there.

They need to look at this like a game of chess and see where they can counterattack from their defense.

Martin Jones found his way to the Stanley Cup Finals on his own as a starter with the Sharks and now he needs to find a way with his teams help to guide them to win game three in San Jose.

His last team the Los Angeles Kings were the last team from California to win the Cup, it has been two years and the Sharks are hoping to bring the Cup back to California.

If anyone knows anything about comebacks Jones is the man as in 2014 when the Kings won the Cup they came down from a 0-3 deficit to win the series then on to the Stanley Cup ironically against the San Jose Sharks.

At the same time the NBA Finals is happening with the Golden State Warriors playing the Cleveland Cavaliers in a rematch of last years Finals, with the Warriors being the defending Champions.

The Shark Tank as they call it will have its home crowd wth them on their feet and will have plenty of supporters their.

Just think about how amazing it would be to have two trophy’s in California in basketball and hockey, both from the Bay Area which is Excellent.

The Sharks have some work to do if they are going to make that happen.

Here are my 4  keys to success for the Sharks, if they are going swim away with the victory.

  1.  Play defense. Don’t get caught up in trying to keep with the fast-skating penguins; instead wait till they come to you to defense then run your offense.
  2. Block Shots before it gets to goalie, which will lead to offensive shot attempts
  3. Take more high percentage shots on goal.
  4. Don’t get distracted by the hits and Convert on Powerplays they have.
