Closing Thoughts

Draft night is a big night for everyone involved, obviously. But as NBA franchises attempt to take that next step towards contention and college kids see their dream of making it to the professional level come to life, let’s not forget the work still left to be done.

As exciting as grabbing even one of the top ten prospects is for these organizations, they have to remember that there must be room to grow. We saw Karl-Anthony Towns explode for the Minnesota Timberwolves while D’Angelo Russell dwindled at his position throughout their respective rookie campaigns.

Why?

One was trying to be molded into something he wasn’t while the other was just being himself.

If teams can remember to give breathing room to their rookies it will pay off in the long run and we’ll see a lot of these guys make a name for themselves in the NBA at their own pace.
