Mitch Kupchak and the Los Angeles Lakers front office will surprise everyone in the draft with their number 2 pick.

There has been multiple Lakers rumors with the 2016 NBA draft just around the corner and Ben Simmons and Brandon Ingram are the top two players in the draft.

There are multiple sleepers in this years draft.

The Lakers have to prepare for the unpredictable, in that they do not know who the Philadelphia 76ers are going to draft with the number 1 overall pick.

Los Angeles can draft anyone from Brandon Ingram to Buddy Hield, to Kris Dunn or Domantas Sabonis.

The team has worked out multiple players and so have other teams.

Ingram or Simmons would make sense because the Lakers do need a talented big man in the center or a guard/forward who can handle the ball.

Most likely the 76ers are going to draft Ingram because they need a consistent jump shooter, leaving Simmons to the Lakers, however they shouldn’t draft Simmons, instead they need to acquire a veteran center in Demarcus Cousins, or Bismarck Biyombo.

They need to acquire a veteran center because they can be the teams anchor in the middle of th post that will help lead the team to where they want to go.

The Lakers need to draft a guard with a similar skill set as Kobe and they shall be fine.

They are going to want to go after free agents who are guards, because they have the money but in reality their best chance is drafting someone who should translate well in the professionals.

The Los Angeles Lakers will surprise everyone with their number 2 pick, because they are also going to base their draft pick on the decisions the 76ers make.

The Lakers with the number 2 overall pick select shooting guard out of Oklahoma University Buddy Hield.

He is another piece to the puzzle for the Lakers in their rebuilding puzzle.

Whether the rumors are true or false about Jordan Clarkson drawing interest from the New York Knicks, then the Lakers will have another guard at their hand.

Lets not forget he talked to Kobe during his schools March Madness run, before a game and had a monster game that day.

This may not mean much but he also wears the same number that Bryant did, which is the number 24.

I must mention he was college player of the year in 2015 NCAA basketball season, including NCAA March Madness Tournament Games.

Their play and skill set is similar.

Buddy is a natural born leader and the Lakers need a leader, they are still searching for one of the young players on their team to step up and be a leader, Hield fits that mold to the tee.

In his senior season he averaged 35 minutes of playing time, 25 points, and around 6 rebounds so close to a double-double.

His assists average was really low in all four of his years at Oklahoma, hence where all the points he scored came in, however in the NBA he will have to rely on his teammates as well, not just himself and which is were he will be passing the ball, increasing his assists total.

Next: Jordan Clarkson Drawing Interest From Knicks

That being said I think he will be able to be productive in the NBA.

His game will translate well in the professionals, and his assists numbers shall go up.

Then before everyone knows it he can and will be producing triple-doubles like Russell Westbrook, but with the game style of play as Kobe Bryant and will show everyone his own style of play while doing all this.
