Norm Nixon

Another Lakers late 1st rd pick  Norm Nixon drafted in 1977 22nd overall had six successful years with the Lakers making the playoffs every year.

Starting in 1979, Nixon formed a formidable backcourt with Magic Johnson that ushered in the Showtime era for the Lakers.

Nixon would win two titles with the Lakers in 1980 and 1982 leading the team in scoring in that years playoffs.

Nixon would also play in the 1982 all-star game, a popular player with the fans and his teammates Nixon’s relationship soured with management leading to his trade to the San Diego Clippers.

In return for Nixon the Lakers acquired guard Byron Scott despite it being an unpopular the Lakers benefited as Scott would extend the Lakers championship years.
