Jim Mora Head Coach of the UCLA Bruins football team is in the contention for the 2017 Coach of the Year Award.

This will be no easy feat for Jim Mora to accomplish being the coach of a PAC 12 team. Anyone can win this award.

This award isn’t just strictly based off of what conference the team they coach is in.

It is more about how the coach turns around a team drastically from the previous season or takes them to the CFB Playoff.

It is all about improvement for the team, organization, and school.

The PAC 12 is one of the most competitive conferences next to the SEC. Many critics don’t agree with this, because no one team is dominant. That is what makes the PAC 12 competitive, because any team, can beat anyone, on any given day, at any place, anytime. In the SEC their is usually one dominant team and the conference isn’t competitive.

Coach Jim Mora had a good season last year with the Bruins in developing then freshman quarterback Josh Rosen. This year Mora, Rosen, and the Bruins are expected to have a big year.

The Bruins are expected to have a big year because most star players from their conference have left their schools to achieve their dreams of playing in the NFL, including some Bruins very own.

The Bruins doing great this year is a very scary thought for all other college football teams, because last year the Bruins football team were just one game away, from making the PAC 12 Championship Game against Stanford.

The team that did make it instead of them were their rivals the USC Trojans. Both teams defeated the first place team Utah, but USC defeated UCLA to make it to the PAC 12 Championship Game, where they would then lose to Stanford.

Jim Mora and his UCLA Bruins lost in their bowl game against Nebraska, which placed a sour taste in their mouth, because they would have rather been playing Stanford in the PAC 12 Conference Championship Game, with a chance to make the CFB Playoff.

This year they will have a chance to do that.

Yes they lost players everywhere on the field, but they were able to sign top 4 and 5 star recruits to their program to help replace those players at those specific positions.

Also Rosen can only improve from last year after a successful freshman year with the Bruins. Having a coach in Jim Mora who coached in the NFL is great for his development.

The Bruins are expected to win the PAC 12 in 2017.

With all this being said Jim Mora is in contention for the 2017 coach of the year. He has a very likely chance of earning the award, which is all dependent on his team does this year.

This is a difficult award to earn for coaches because there are multiple programs that are continuing to be turned around. Therefore all of us will only be able to wait and see.

If the Bruins go undefeated win the PAC 12 and make the CFB Playoff and win the National Championship, there is a highly likely chance Jim Mora will win Coach of the year.

Another award to for Jim Mora and the Bruins to be on the lookout for is the Heisman Trophy, as Josh Rosen in his second year, and has a great chance of earning that award with multiple standout quarterbacks in the NCAA gone in the NFL.

Yet it won’t be easy, because there are still standout quarterbacks in NCAA, and for him to earn the Heisman, the Bruins will have to win the NCAA CFB Playoff National Championship Game and possibly even go undefeated throughout the whole season.
