Dodgers Rumors: Is Chris Archer the right match for LA?
There have been plenty of Dodgers Rumors circling the wagon and one of these rumors are, should the LA Dodgers go after a young pitcher, trading for Chris Archer?
The LA Dodgers were doing great heading into the All-Star Break. Then during and after the break the negative news came to town; starting Ace Clayton Kershaw was put on the DL due to a back-injury. Many pitchers have stepped up to the mound and have carried the team. These players include Jansen, Stripling, and Kazmir. Outside of Kershaw and pitchers who are healthy these three have been fantastic for the LA Dodgers.
There are Dodgers Rumors that they will trade for Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Chris Archer. One concern there is who will the Dodgers trade to the Rays to acquire Archer. They have a great infield and outfield, whom they will not trade any of those players. They would have to trade a pitcher, but how will the Rays feel about that?
One solution I can see is the Dodgers trading Adam Liberatore for Chris Archer, along with a future MLB draft pick. I know what all you Dodgers fans are thinking; why would Adam want to go back to Tampa Bay where he didn’t get the chance to be the best he can be, like he did with LA? My answer to that question is…
…Now that Tampa Bay has seen what he can do they will start him because they need him, as they are doing horrible right now. Secondly if they don’t want him on the team, they can trade him to a team who wants and needs him because he is worth more now with what he has proven and shown with LA.
Chris Archer is 27 years young and the LA Dodgers need another young pitcher for their franchise to help them advance in the playoffs. This trade would send Adam back to the Rays with a 2017 draft pick and in return the Los Angeles Dodgers grab Chris Archer. Chris Archer is already a starter, therefore if Kershaw stays injured he would start for Kershaw, then when Archer needs a rest then one of the other pitchers in the bullpen would start.
The Los Angeles Dodgers have a great bullpen who can pull through games when their aces are injured or not in the game. Chris Archer would be the replacement for losing Grienke, as in they would find another ace immediately, instead of waiting to develop one of their young pitchers.
Chris archer has a 3.56 ERA over his career with a 37-45 record and 709 strikeouts. His game will only improve with the Dodgers, because look how Adams’ game improved and he has only been in the league for one year to Chris Archer being in the league for 4 years. Chris Archer would improve before the post-season with the Dodgers if traded and imagine the damage they can do going into the post-season. Then again these are all Dodgers rumors and all we can do is wait until the trade deadline.
These Dodgers Rumors could come true and if they do not come true there is also Chris Sale from the White Sox to go after.
