Nevada and Utah show resurgence in day three of the LLWS 2016 West Regionals.

As both teams got their first win of the tournament, and will continue their chances to represent the West in this year’s Little League World Series; with all eyes on Nevada and Arizona in the first game of the losing bracket.

Nevada got out to a fast 2-0 lead in the top of the first, and continued to tack on runs in every inning they came to bat.

Arizona was only able to match Nevada with 4 runs of the game, with a solo home run from JT Wheeling, 2-RBI triple from Kobe Bowen, and a sacrifice-fly from Landen Argabright.

Which turned out not to be enough, as Nevada was unstoppable on the offensive side of the ball with ten hitters combining for 15 hits, 15 RBIs, and 15 runs to cross home plate.

Chase Ditmer also handed Nevada a great pitching performance giving Arizona trouble for three full innings, striking out two, while giving up only 5 hits and 3 runs.

In the end, Nevada was too much for Arizona to handle, and showed what they could do on the offensive side of the ball.

The second game of the evening between Utah and No. Cal was a close, and well fought game for both teams, but ended in a bittersweet moment for Utah.

After a late comeback, that saw Utah close the game with back to back singles to tie the game, and take the win away from No. Cal.

Logan Medanhall started the game for Utah with a homerun in the bottom of the first to take a 1-0 lead.

The game would stay in a 1-0 lead until the top of the third, when No. Cal tied the game at one a piece.

Once the game was tied, both Utah and No. Cal went back and forth with each other, scoring in every at bat of each inning.

In the top of the sixth inning, No. Cal took a 6-5 lead off of an RBI single from Justin Menesini.

Giving Utah the hard task to either tie, win, or lose the game with what could be their last three outs of the season.

Utah took on the challenge, and received a gift from the No. Cal team, as Ethan Anderson was able to reach first base as Griffin Harrison wasn’t able to handle a liner at the shortstop position.

Ethan Andersen was later able to cross home plate to tie the game after a single from Logan Mendenhall, who then scored the winning run off of a walk-off single by Luke Iverson.

Utah will hopefully try to use this momentum from this comeback win, and look to use it against a Nevada team that will be looking to continue their offensive explosion that crushed Arizona.

Utah and Nevada will continue play Wednesday to determine who will be playing the loser of the Hawaii vs. So. Cal game.
