Brandon Ingram Will Not Start, Will Play Role Off the Bench
Brandon Ingram No. 2 pick for the Los Angeles Lakers will not be a starter!
Instead he will play a role coming off the bench.
To many fans you may be panicking right now.
My suggestion for you is do not worry, do not panick.
This is actually great for the rookie who is only 19 years of age.
Brandon Ingram only played one year at Duke University.
The transition from college to the pros is different for everyone.
There is plenty more learning in the NBA most definitely.
Brandon Ingram has to learn the playbook for the Lakers.
The good news for him is he is playing under a first time head coach who has his own playbook.
Also he is on one of the youngest teams in the league with plenty of talent.
This is not to say Brandon Ingram can’t be a starter.
He just fits much better in Luke Waltons’ game plan coming off the bench instead of starting.
Walton will start the players who started last year we would all think, which is somewhat true.
Let us all be honest with ourselves here.
Luke Walton is going to start the players who have been working hard all off-season, understand the playbook, are experienced/skilled, and show great chemistry with each other.
He wants all of his team to have chemistry with each other, because that is one way to win games and eventually a championship.
Brandon Ingram is NBA ready and he is going to play in games this year most definitely.
Having him be a starter is asking too much from him too soon.
They want Brandon Ingram to develop and become one of the best players in the league.
The Lakers have a good starting core who produce consistently.
Brandon Ingram coming off the bench is what is best for him and the team.
Why is this the best idea?
This is the best idea since he has raw talent.
With learning and developing he will be a threat to other teams now and in the future.
Brandon Ingram will bring that energy off the bench to the Lakers whether they are losing or winning.
He will bring this energy because he is a hard worker, who wants to help this team anyway he can.
Also he is unselfish, by being unselfish and thinking of others that is how you create more flow and better chemistry with your teammate’s.
Which amy as well result in game victories.
The Lakers have a decent bench and by Brandon Ingram coming off the bench he adds depth.
Also, he immediately makes that bench better.
Just by being on part of the bench role and his skill what he can do on the court, is why he makes it an improved bench.
It is also great for him to produce off the bench and learn.
He can learn against the starters, but it may be difficult for him to show his craft on the court.
This league is a business and they don’t play around either.
Coming off the bench may make it a smoother transition for him to show off his craft that way he isn’t smothered by opposing starting players.
Bench squads are no different either, they are just as fiesty, because they are working for a starting role.
If not they are working to come off the bench to help their team win a championship.
Either way he will have to work his way into a starting role or be happy and content with the role coach Walton ask him to play.
The Lakers have a good bench and he improves the bench with the skill he brings to the court.
He will definitely slowly be worked into the starting rotation or play with them, but he will start his career out by coming off the bench.
Coming off the bench and not starting is not a bad thing.
Usually bench players can have a much bigger impact, because opposing teams don’t know what to expect.
Bench players are just as important as starters to winning games and championships; when in the game they are their to keep the flow of the game, the lead, and even increase the tempo, and energy as well.
No matter what role he plays he has to work his tail off every day.
It all depends what the coaches want and Luke Walton wants Brandon Ingram to come off the bench.
There are many reasons to this and one is he will a have bigger impact coming off the bench.
It is in everyones best interest for Brandon Ingram to come off the bench and develop instead of starting immediately.
This will allow him to develop make mistakes make plays and learn from them and not be a horrible player in the league.
