If all goes in the Dodgers’ favor, they’ll keep Jansen in Los Angeles, but for the right price.

Where Miami has the edge on Los Angeles is the money factor. The Marlins haven’t shown signs of slowing down, and Jansen could end up to whichever place lets the money talk.

If Jansen wants to go with the right chemistry and playoff potential, the easiest pick is the Dodgers. Miami didn’t make the post-season last season, and Los Angeles edged Washington head-to-head when it mattered most.

While it’s hard to say at this point if the Dodgers will make it close to the World Series, they have the pieces in place to still do something special next season.

Jansen could factor into that by continuing the playoff style of baseball we saw when he and Clayton Kershaw let lose.

They looked much more comfortable on the mound when they weren’t trying to be squeezed into a mold and they were allowed the freedom to throw like they want to.

With Aroldis Chapman going back to New York, Jansen coming back to Los Angeles makes even more sense. Should a playoff rematch between Chicago and Los Angeles happen again, Jansen won’t have Chapman’s heroics to worry about.

At least in the National League.

Jansen’s brilliant pitching overall was often overshadowed by the sheer presence of Chapman.

Now that he could have the green light to show us more of what he’s got, the Dodgers would be foolish to let him walk.
