Jeff Carter shines, shoots game-winner against San Jose
Jeff Carter makes game winning goal to give the LA Kings the victory over the San Jose Sharks.
Jeff Carter scored halfway through the third period. This gave the Sharks enough time to strike back quickly, yet they couldn’t.
The defense played tremendous and prevented their division rivals to score the game winning goal.
They shut out the Sharks the first two periods and allowed two goals in the their third, yet they still came out with the win.
Their defense slipped near the end but held their composure.
Also the offense scored one goal in each period, which helped the defense relax a tiny bit.
Los Angeles owned this game until the Sharks inched closer in the third period.
They came out of nowhere like a great white shark that failed to snatch their prey. Los Angeles had more shots on goal than the Sharks 27 to 20.
Possession time for both teams was evenly split down the middle.
Jeff Carter and the Kings had more power plays, yet were only able to capitalize on one of them.
One statistic the Kings didn’t do so well in is the blocks and hits category.
San Jose had more of each. They had 27 hits to 24 and 16 blocks to the Kings 11 blocks.
Jeff Carter helped his team end 2016 on a high note with a victory. With this victory they currently sit at 5th in the Pacific Division standings.
They are not far behind from the rest of the teams. This is a competitive division, therefore the Kings have a chance to go on a streak and end up making the playoffs.
In this division every team atop in the standings is getting help from other rivals to keep them afloat and in playoff contention.
An issue that seems to be staying with the LA Kings, which is also a cause for concern, is players being plagued with injuries.
