Unseating the heralded Max Browne four games into the season was a controversial move for the unsettled USC football program.

And it saved Clay Helton’s job.

It also resurrected the team and put them into the Rose Bowl, where Darnold thrived.

Not enough?

The freshman also won the Archie Griffin award as College Football’s MVP.

At 19 years old, not a bad start to a career. The Trojans will start next season as the Pac-12 favorite and Darnold immediately vaulted to the top of the Heisman race.

With another performance like this, he’s going to rank among L.A.’s football legends for the remainder of time with the Trojans.
