Chargers relocation announcement: Full details on move to Los Angeles
By Keith Rivas
As a result of the Chargers relocation announcement, we have to process a second team in Los Angeles.
One team is never good enough, right?
After the Rams left St. Louis before the beginning of this season, it appears the Chargers weren’t far behind.
ESPN reports that the Chargers will no longer call San Diego home, pending the official announcement from the team.
Per Adam Schefter:
"“The Chargers plan to announce as early as Thursday that they are moving to Los Angeles for the 2017 season, league sources said, ending a 55-year stint in San Diego and returning to their birthplace. The franchise played its inaugural season in Los Angeles in 1960 before moving to San Diego in 1961.”"
This is ground-breaking for the league, city, and sports as we know it.
While the Rams didn’t have a great season after a 3-1 start, that didn’t matter much. To fans, they were back home — that’s all they cared about.
Los Angeles received the first overall draft pick in Jared Goff, eventually seeing him take the field as a starter.
Now that that’s out of the way, let’s look at some of the key details related to the move.
