After another big knee injury, the latest Lakers rumors look at the long shot that the team sends D’Angelo Russell elsewhere.

It’s not a popular thought for teams to get rid of high draft picks so early. Usually in the opening part of those careers, there’s a learning curve.

With D’Angelo Russell and the Lakers, however, that relationship could start looking very different.

As the second pick in the 2015 draft, Russell had a lot of weight on his shoulders almost immediately. In the shadow of Kobe Bryant, Russell was left with a chance to step up to the plate.

So far, it’s only been nothing short of off and on leadership.

Other youngsters on the team are playing well such as Julius Randle, Jordan Clarkson, and Brandon Ingram.

But the one with the major injury bug is Russell.

There are no reports of the team actively or even wanting to shop him, but down the road that could change.

Here are three things the Lakers need to look at in order to make the right decision.
