UCLA Bruins escape conference rival USC at home
UCLA managed to escape with a victory at home Sunday Night.
The UCLA Bruins women basketball team displayed another wondrous performance in their victory over USC.
UCLA is now currently one game back of first place, which would place them in a four way tie.
In conference play they hold a 6-2 record, while their overall record is 15-4.
These ladies are playing great basketball. They are improving every game win or lose. Their is always room for improvement.
The Bruins understand to make it to the postseason, as team they all have to be consistent and aggressive.
They are able to comprehend that they will need other players step up if their stars can’t get it going.
For example, in this game Kennedy Burke came through. They need the rest of the team to carry the load when Billings and Canada can’t spark plays for their offense.
Burke recorded 23 points and 9 rebounds. She was tied for the leading scorer along with teammate Jordin Canada.
UCLA defeated the Trojans for the second time this season in what a way was back to back wins. On Wednesday Night they routed their conference rivals.
On Sunday they Bruins somehow found a way to win once again.
They didn’t win this game because of how many shot attempts they had from the field or downtown. Instead they won this game from the free throw line.
They managed to win because they found ways to the charity stripe.
UCLA earned 33 trips to the line while their opponent only made it their 8 times. This is the biggest gap and oddity in the box score.
The Bruins managed to win this game from the line because from downtown they were a merely 21.7% or 5-23.
Turnovers helped with the result of their victory by having twice the amount of steals. Monica Billings also was the only other Bruin with double digits; she had 12 points to add to the victory and 12 rebounds earning herself a double-double.
