Yasiel Puig is really trying to go that extra mile for the community.

You can call Yasiel Puig many things on the field – frustrating, inconsistent, difficult.

But he also continues to be a man of the people, as evidenced this morning with his surprise shift as a barista in a Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf in Studio City.

Puig was working behind the counter making lattes and other specialty drinks. He was also regaling fans with his trademark smile and larger-than-life personality.

Puig, who struggled mightily with consistency since his outstanding rookie campaign, has been a social media superstar and enjoys interacting with fans.

This outing included the Twitter hashtags #findpuig and #puigyourbarista, a play on the #puigyourfriend.

Puig’s one-day-only coworkers seemed to enjoy having the Cuban superstar in-store, as he seemed to be a natural with the customers.

Hopefully Puig finds his hitting stroke, as the Dodgers have him slated to platoon with Andre Ethier in the upcoming 2017 season.

After a rookie season in which Puig slammed 19 home runs, stole 11 bases and compiled a .925 OPS, finishing 15th in MVP voting, his career has stalled.

He ended last season with a .263 average and 11 home runs and spent time in AAA Oklahoma City as the Dodgers organization was forced to decide how to handle the mercurial outfielder.

Regardless, Puig’s talent is undeniable and if the charm he uses as a barista can be mimicked at the plate, perhaps he can rekindle the magic he had in that 2014 rookie season.
