The latest Lakers rumors might not be good news for  one of their veterans.

If this recent political season wasn’t interesting and chaotic enough, the aftermath of the presidential elections is now being felt in the world of sports.

As of Friday, President Trump issued an executive order on immigration. The order lists several countries from which people will not be allowed into the country.

According to a report from USA TODAY, both Luol Deng of the Lakers and Thon Maker of the Bucks will be affected.

Per the report:

"Los Angeles Lakers forward Luol Deng and Milwaukee Bucks rookie Thon Makerwere born in Sudan (now South Sudan), and residents from Sudan have been banned entry into the United States for three months, according to the order."

As unfortunate as the situation in this case is, it’s an important reminder of a couple things.

First, that sports can’t always be an escape from the outside world. More often than not, folks tune into sports as a way to get away.

In today’s world, that is going to be harder and harder to do because of things such as the travel ban.

The NBA isn’t the only one that will be affected, however. This travel ban will have a lingering impact on all professional athletes in all sports.

Consequently, the league has been in contact with government officials. Those conversations have had to be about the effect of the travel ban.

Lastly, league spokesperson Mike Bass is reported as holding true to the league’s international reach.

Concern is rooted in making trips to Toronto. The question there becomes whether or not players like Deng and Maker would return.
