The latest Lakers trade rumors have plenty to do with Serge Ibaka.

Looking at where the Orlando Magic are right now, it’s safe to say that a move before the trade deadline isn’t impossible.

One of the rumored players on the trade block is power forward Serge Ibaka.

According to a report from Sporting News, Ibaka has his name in the mix thanks to the team trying to get a deal done as soon as possible.

Per the report:

"It has not taken long for buyers’ remorse to kick in. League sources told Sporting News that the Magic have picked up their attempts to move Ibaka ahead of next month’s trade deadline…"

How the Lakers would go about acquiring the Magic’s starting power forward is up for discussion.

Pieces in a potential trade package could see names like Nick Young or Larry Nance, Jr. come up, among others.

Los Angeles is hoping that point guard D’Angelo Russell will have a healthy return from injury.

Initially, it seemed as though the Lakers were on to something good. A split in their first twenty games, plenty of energy, but not enough focus.

Injuries never help, either.

Luke Walton hopes to keep the Lakers on the right path moving forward, but it won’t be easy.

More losing seasons means the chance that fans will become impatient with the process the Lakers are choosing to trust.

Making a move for a player like Ibaka would change how Los Angeles goes about the rest of the season. Some are calling for the team to tank so it doesn’t lose draft picks, but that’s only one option.
