Phillip Rivers made it to the 2017 NFL Pro Bowl by replacing Ben Roethlisberger.

Phillip Rivers and the Chargers’ season was not lost, as he was sent to the Pro Bowl last minute.

The LA Chargers have not made the playoffs since 2011.

Since then, they have continuously struggled due to a multitude of reasons.

One reason more notable than others is that every year multiple players get injured.

Yes, it is common for players to injure themselves, but for LA it always seems to be there playmakers. Phillip Rivers has been the only constant for the Chargers over the years.

He is their All-Star therefore he deserved to replace Roethlisberger at the Pro Bowl. Winning the precision passing event justified his case he was the right choice as the replacement.

They  haven’t had a winning season since 2014, where they went 9-7 and missed the playoffs.

This is due to one division having three teams make the playoffs and multiple AFC teams having the same record as the Chargers.

In this year the bad news was the Bolts missed the playoffs and the good news is the AFC by way of record was the best conference in the league.

Additionally, to top it all the winner of the 2014 regular season/2015 Super Bowl were the New England Patriots.

Phillip Rivers has been hungry for a Super Bowl win, yet alone a playoff appearance.

When he makes the playoffs he usually wins in the wildcard round. He has plenty of talented players around him, they just need to stay healthy for 16 full games.

The Pro Bowl must have felt like a playoff game for Rivers, who was joined by teammates Melvin Gordon and Casey Hayward.
