Don Chaney

Los Angeles Clippers, 1985 – 1987

The first black coach of a professional team in Los Angeles, Chaney was 53-132 in three seasons at the helm of the woebegone franchise, missing the playoffs each season.

He went on to coach nine more seasons in the NBA and nabbed Coach of the Year honors with the Houston Rockets in 1991.

Chaney also was assistant coach on the USA National Team in 1994 during their gold-medal run in the FIBA Tournament.
