The Charles Oakley incident is less intense in comparison, but it still speaks to how players can and are influencing the world around them.

During these times, there are even some out there who go as far as to say that athletes have to stay out of politics — let alone current events.

To that degree, a sense of respect for the fact that athletes are still people needs to come into play.
