Anthony Davis

In order to land former Kentucky Wildcat Anthony Davis, the Lakers are going to have to pull of a trade. It won’t necessarily happen this season, but it could by the time the next deadline gets here.

Assuming that their current roster doesn’t shift too much from right now, Los Angeles could deal some key veterans to New Orleans to make it work.

According to a trade completed on ESPN’s trade machine, a successful deal isn’t too far from reality. Los Angeles would have to give up Lou Williams and Timofey Mozgov, but it’s more than worth the price for the Lakers.

Magic Johnson knows that the Lakers need that next superstar type of talent in order to compete. He’s said so himself that it’s what will get the Lakers back into contention. Landing Davis does just that, while giving the Pelicans a decent package in return.

Lou Williams would give New Orleans trusted depth off the bench. It would give Buddy Hield a direct mentor with someone in his position. As for Mozgov, the Pelicans could use force down low and that’s what he brings to the table.

The main reason Mozgov doesn’t work in Los Angeles well is because there’s young talent at his position ready to take over.

Add Anthony Davis to the young core and you’ve got a dangerous squad, even as young as they are.
