Why It Has To Happen

If I were to sit here and write this without giving a reason, it’d be pointless, right?

Trying to think of a time when the Lakers were able to compete without at least one star being the center of attention is a hard to thing to do, if not impossible. Where the team is at right now, they’re still in need of that star.

Kobe Bryant wasn’t the same as his old self in his last few seasons. Instead, a lot of the attention given to him took away from what the young core was trying to establish.

Mix that with the notion that Magic Johnson wants to be able to be more involved in the decision making process and you have a chance for the former Lakers point guard to prove himself. Landing two quality players to help the young core get somewhere would mean the world to Lakers basketball.

Also, as mentioned previously in the section regarding Westbrook, it’s a way to put an end to the Warriors’ dominating run. Instead of watching them run quick offense and get an easy bucket off two passes or a quick, fading three, make them work for it.

Getting that big body in Davis and that raw athleticism and drive from Westbrook are two things that even Golden State would have trouble stopping.
