If the Clippers get a big playoff run, it’s likely going to be because of Blake Griffin.

When thinking of the Los Angeles Clippers, Blake Griffin should always be in the discussion. Usually, he gets brought up in the same breath as Chris Paul and DeAndre Jordan. Together, they make for a group of three All-Stars that Los Angeles depends upon.

And now Griffin is getting his own recognition.

While we already knew he was a great player, being named co-player of the week helps your case even more. Griffin was recognized as such according to a report from NBA.com and received it with LeBron James.

Per the report:

"Griffin led the Clippers to a 2-1 week behind averages of 26.0 points, 10.3 rebounds and 8.0 assists (tied for fourth in the West).  In just his sixth game since returning from knee surgery, Griffin posted a triple-double with 26 points, 11 rebounds and a career-high-tying 11 assists in a 118-109 loss to the Toronto Raptors on Feb. 6."

Having a presence like Griffin was something the Clippers needed last year. Instead, when both he and Chris Paul suffered post-season injuries against Portland, it doomed the team. Despite their best efforts, the Clippers are no match for the Western Conference, let alone other teams in the league, without their best players.

Another important thing to note is that when Griffin is healthy, he’s unstoppable. It doesn’t seem to matter if he just came off of surgery or that he may not be 100 percent just yet.

He’s going out and playing every game like it’s his last and it’s paying immediate dividends.

Griffin beat out James Harden, Kevin Durant, and Gordon Hayward for the award with respect to their conference.
