Closing Thoughts

Making major decisions ahead of a trade deadline isn’t always an easy job. No matter what the Lakers end up doing, the front office will likely catch flak for it.

If they don’t move anybody, there will be folks that complain the team won’t go anywhere until you get rid of all of the veterans. Then on the other hand, if the Lakers do make a deal but it either involves a member of the young core or they don’t get enough in return, some will argue that they should’ve just stayed out of it.

Either way, the Lakers organization may not be in a win-win situation this year.

Thankfully, Magic Johnson will get to have a heavy say in whatever the team decides to do. The former Lakers point guard knows what it takes to win — and win big, at that. Also, Johnson has discussed that he sees Los Angeles close to competing for a title again.
