In the aftermath of the DeMarcus Cousins trade to the Pelicans, the Lakers may have landed on a golden opportunity.

Seeing the DeMarcus Cousins trade that happened over All-Star weekend is one thing, but understanding it is completely different. Teams, players, and writers will now have to deal with what’s being called one of the worst trades — if not the worst trade — ever.

Also adding to the confusion surrounding the Kings pulling the trigger is the fact that the approved trade didn’t even work in 2k17. The reason for that was that the Kings weren’t getting enough in return — maybe they should have listened.

What’s done is done, though, and soon we’ll see Cousins wearing a New Orleans jersey.

While that happens, there’s three things the trade did that could change the Lakers for the better.
