Closing Thoughts

The chance that they still make a deal involving their veterans remain high. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like they’ll be competing for even a bottom playoff spot this year no matter what.

In this scenario, it’s best for the Lakers to tank, but not quit, on their season. Development is still a crucial part of the process that they are trusting and not doing their part would ruin the movement.

Going to their youth, the Lakers are also letting the league know what’s coming. They want someone to bloom by being themselves and bringing their own game to the city instead of bringing in developed players from other teams.

Smart move, but requires patience.

Now the Lakers have to look not only to the deadline, but also to the upcoming draft. Who they pick will be the nail in the coffin over the last few years of whether or not the young core they have will take the team anywhere.
