The latest Lakers rumors address a potential location for veteran Lou Williams.

This time around, the Los Angeles Lakers are sellers at the trade deadline. With the front office leaning more and more on the young core, it’s time for the veterans to get sent somewhere else.

One of those veterans is sixth man Lou Williams.

It is Williams’ second with the Lakers after joining the team in free agency following a tenure in Toronto. Williams didn’t take long to fit in, taking full control of his role off of the bench, especially early in the season.

Los Angeles is keeping the upcoming draft in mind, though. Chances are they’ll be able to grab more young talent so long as they keep a bottom three pick. Someone to go along with Brandon Ingram, D’Angelo Russell, and the others.

Lou wouldn’t fit in at that point.

This is how the Lakers are going to return to being a contender, though. Getting rid of the veterans isn’t easy, but it’s become necessary at this point in the season. Especially since they’re not going to the playoffs, anyway.

According to a piece by Bleacher Report, Utah is the team to watch in the Williams’ sweepstakes now.

Per the article:

"Ian Begley of ESPN.com reported Monday some members of Utah’s front office are interested in Los Angeles Lakers guard Lou Williams. Begley noted “many around the league believe Williams is likely to be dealt before Thursday’s trade deadline,” although some teams think the Lakers are looking for a first-round pick to move the guard."

It goes on to say that getting that first round pick will absolutely bolster the young core. It would be a good back up in case they’re out of the top three later on.
